Life in Brisbane Queensland is especially pleasant most of the year round boasting an active outdoors lifestyle which matches the glorious year long blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Many ofQueensland’s residential districts are designed around greenbelt landscapes filled with trees, abundant native fauna and lots of wildlife making the district not only attractive but also an environmentally friendly location to live in.
The downside of so much greenery is that it also means gutters become clogged and heavy with leaves and debris quickly causing plenty of potential problems as well as an inconvenient interruption to the preferred easy laid back Queensland lifestyle. Seriously who wants to spend countless hours clearing leaves and other matter from gutters every second weekend? Not very many people – that’s for sure!
Traditionally cleaning out the gutters requires rolling up your sleeves, grabbing a pair of gardening gloves and climbing up and down a ladder perched squarely up against the roof of your house! Then it’s a matter of systematically removing all of the mushy wet debris and whatever else has collected there. Certainly not a fun activity as well as quite dangerous should you misjudge your balance and fall from the ladder or roof. Don’t be fooled into thinking that just because it doesn’t rain very often; you don’t need to worry about keeping your home’s gutters nice and clean. A clogged gutter may lead to serious damage to your beautiful home including roof leakage, flooding and a host of other home repair nightmares! Luckily for Queenslanders there’s an affordable easy solution guaranteed to take care of any gutter protection worries.
But for those folks that insist on doing the job themselves; here are a few tips to make it as easy as possible for you!
It will be easier and more effective to use a small scoop or trowel to remove the debris instead of your hands, if you are using your hands be very careful of spiders and vermin in the gutters. Wear gloves as even a small cut could become infected from the rotten debris in the gutters.
Toss the debris directly into a large garbage bag (decomposable one if possible) which can then be placed straight into your compost or rubbish bin.
Be very careful with regards to using a ladder and have a spotter close at all times for safety.
When you finally finish clearing your home’s gutters; seriously consider investing in a gutter protection product which will mean you won’t have to spend time doing that nasty job again and again and again!
